May 26th, 2010 · No Comments

According to the Austin Post-Bulletin, a 37-year-old Austin man received a four-year sentence Thursday last week for a number of burglaries in Austin. The man, who is homeless, pleaded guilty to single felony counts of first-degree burglary of an occupied dwelling, second-degree burglary, and fifth-degree drug crime.

He has been ordered to pay $1,216 in restitution for two of the claims and to server 49 months in prison. He will also need to pay $1,732 in other restitution. All the counts will be served concurrently with credit for 62 days already served.

The man was arrested on March 16, when police received a report around 5:20 p.m. that he was breaking into and entering a home. Police found the man in a 54-year-old’s apartment, with the door kicked down and the homeless man inside, threatening the owner of the house with what appeared to be a weapon.

The homeless man had burglarized the 54-year-old’s home earlier and was angry that the man had reported the crime to the police.
