Austin man killed in robbery ambush

April 23rd, 2010 · No Comments

Two men who agreed to give two women a ride to Taylor around 4 a.m. last Sunday were lured into an ambush and robbed at gunpoint. One of the men was fatally shot.

2 Austin women, ages 25 and 21, have been arrested and charged with aggravated robbery. The man suspected of being the shooter was arrested on other charges and police have not released his identity pending the completion of their investigation.

The women asked the two men, both 19-years-old, for a ride home after a night at an Austin nightclub. The men were ambushed near Riverside Drive, where the shooting suspect robbed them and fired two shots, one of which fatally struck one of the 19-year-old men.

The uninjured 19-year-old drove his friend to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center, but it was too late.
