A 38-year-old Rochester man with outstanding warrants who allegedly led Austin police on a chase that spanned two counties appeared in Mower District Court April 9 on single felony counts of fifth-degree drug crime and fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle.
The man threw a white substance, later determined to be meth, out of window during the chase. The meth struck the pursuing officer’s windshield, limiting visibility.
According to police reports, the chase began around 11:10 p.m. April 7 along Oakland Avenue West. An officer saw the man, and knowing that there was a warrant out his arrest, attempted to stop him. The 38-year-old then led police on a chase that ended in Freeborn county.
The man, who returns to court April 22, has a criminal record of drug crime convictions. He has been on supervised release since leaving prison in October.
