U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Fabens, Texas caught a mother and her 12-year-old daughter smuggling marijuana into the country. As the two drove up, early Friday, to declare their citizenship to Customs and Border Patrol officers, a drug sniffing dog alerted them to the marijuana.
The 29-year-old Juarez woman and her 12-year-old daughter were carrying bundles of marijuana inside their purses. A total of 4.97 pounds of marijuana was seized.
The daughter was later turned over to a family member, as CBP officials remanded custody of her mother, the drugs and vehicle to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office for prosecution.
