In 2004, the state of Texas executed Cameron Todd Willingham for a 1991 house fire that killed his three young children. However, a recent state funded analysis of the case shows that he may have been improperly sentenced in his trial.
Two fire officials gave testimony in the trial, implicating Willingham in the fire. However, the analysis shows that they used faulty reasoning in their assessment of the case. While the analysis does not prove Willingham’s innocence, it certainly raises the possibility.
