A 21 year old man could be facing life in prison for aggravated assault of a public servant. The alleged assault took place around 1am on April 4, 2008 when police pulled over a car for suspected drunk driving. The man’s father was driving.
In an ensuing altercation between the police and the driver, the man on trial got out of the car and attacked one of the officers, cutting his hand with a box cutter. The officer received 14 stitches as a result of the attack.
