Visiting SXSW Musician Arrested for Assault

March 20th, 2009 · No Comments

A man in Austin with his band for the South By Southwest Music Festival was arrested early Thursday morning for assaulting a hotel security guard.

Michael Jarvis, 25, and a band mate were reportedly running naked around the lobby of the downtown Hilton Hotel, intermittently playing a nearby piano, when the security staff asked them to put their clothes back on.

Jarvis rushed at the security guard, who was talking to the other band member, and began to punch him in the face. Austin police responded to a disturbance around 3:00 A.M. to find both men subdued by the guard.

Assault of a public servant is a third-degree felony, an extremely serious charge. If you or someone you know has been charged with assault, it is important to know your options. Contact the Austin criminal defense attorney, Ian Inglis at 800-589-1808 today.
