Lafayette, LA–On October 12, 2008, a police officer was injured and his deputy dog was killed in a hit and run accident. The accident occurred at 11:25 pm, when the officer and the dog he was with were doing routine inspection work.
While extremely unfortunately the dog died, fortunately the officer only suffered minor injuries and was quickly released from the hospital.
An individual driving a black Mercedes may be able to act as a witness to the crime.
